A Season of Red Earth — Returning to Madura

Cross-Border Diary

personal return to the Madurese village that raised the woman who raised me.

A

Not a travel guide, but a love letter — a personal return to Tanah Merah, Bangkalan, my mother's home ground on Madura Island. Inside the Tanèyan Lanjhâng family compounds, wood-fired kitchens, and cattle sheds that double as savings, I found a social structure and a faith that has stayed intact for generations. This is a story about the red earth that colors the soil, the paths, and the memory of the woman who raised the woman who raised me.

Hevi

Maria.

Ten years of high-performance sales, hospitality, and creative work — refined into one seamless, strategic mind.

This space was never meant to be a portfolio in the traditional sense. It began as a quiet corner of the internet — a place to exhale, to document, to play. A way of saying: I was here, I felt this, and it was beautiful.

Life has been generous. Through every city, every role, every creative detour — there has always been something worth pausing for. This website is my way of honoring that. Not a highlight reel, not a résumé — simply a grateful heart, making itself at home on a page.

"Not everything needs a reason. Some things simply deserve to be celebrated."

"Grace has been generous. This is my quiet thank you."

Solitude

The world did not end
at sunset.

It simply
changed its audience.

The crowd left
with the light.
The crescent moon arrived
for the ones
who stayed —

the trees,
the water,
the rare human being
who has learned
that the most beautiful performances
are the ones
with the fewest
witnesses.

Solitude is not
the absence of company.

It is the presence
of everything
that only shows itself
when the noise
finally
leaves.

Mindfulness

When the Sea Turns Gold

A quiet ending to an island day.

As daylight gently fades over Koh Pha Ngan, the horizon becomes a canvas of gold and calm—a reminder that the simplest moments often leave the deepest impressions.

Perspectives

Between Clarity and Blur

More than places, I remember how they changed me.

Every journey has taught me that the world is less about destinations and more about the way we choose to see it. Through changing landscapes, unfamiliar cities, and quiet moments like this, I've learned to embrace curiosity, find beauty in simplicity, and keep growing—one perspective at a time.

The view changes. So do we.

Why I Love

My admiration for Ong Cen Kuang begins with its relationship with materials.

What captivates me about Ong Cen Kuang is its ability to transform ordinary materials into objects filled with character and emotion. Each handmade piece reflects a belief that true design is not about decoration, but about creating stories, preserving craftsmanship, and bringing warmth into everyday life.

Some memories aren't made at famous landmarks. They're found between stations, beneath the streets of Paris, where a smile, a steady hand on the metro pole, and the rhythm of the city become part of the story.

Koutoubia

A Quiet Landmark

Where faith and architecture stand as one.

The Koutoubia Mosque embodies the beauty of restraint. Its elegant minaret, quiet strength, and enduring spirit have watched over the city for centuries, reminding us that true landmarks are measured not by height, but by the lives they continue to inspire.

The Gerbera daisy finds beauty in simplicity—bright enough to be noticed, gentle enough to feel at home in every landscape.

Horemheb & Horus

A silent dialogue between a king and the divine.

The Statue of Horemheb and Horus is more than an ancient masterpiece. It is a meditation on legacy, protection, and the enduring dialogue between humanity and the divine—carved into stone for eternity.

Across millennia, its quiet presence continues to speak without words. captures more than a ruler and a god—it reveals a timeless bond between earthly leadership and divine guardianship, preserved with remarkable grace.

The soul once knew a warmth before it learned the word for warmth. A hand that held before the mind could remember holding.

You have traveled far, beloved, chasing light across mountains and seas, never knowing the first light you ever felt was hers.

Come back. Not because you are lost, but because some truths can only be felt in stillness, in the place where love asked nothing of you and gave everything.

 - The Art of Standing Still- Quietly Roman

A square where every season carries the same quiet grace.

Piazza di Spagna has welcomed artists, dreamers, and travelers for centuries. Its charm lies not in grandeur alone, but in the quiet rhythm of everyday life unfolding around it.

Beyond the Noise

Where the mountains meet the mist, and the soul finds peace.

Standing by the lake, I was reminded that some of the most memorable journeys are not about excitement, but about finding moments of stillness and connection with the natural world.

Bratislavský hrad

Bratislavsky

The Danube carried me onward, but a part of me stayed with the castle lights of Bratislava.

One of my favorite memories from Central Europe was seeing Bratislava Castle illuminated at night while cruising along the Danube back to Vienna. The fortress rose majestically above the river, its lights casting a golden glow across the water. There was a quiet romance in that moment—a feeling of traveling through history beneath the night sky. Long after the castle faded from view, the enchantment remained.

Some journeys lead us to distant places, while others lead us back to ourselves. Like daisies blooming freely in the wild, we are reminded to grow where we are planted and find beauty in every season.

Bramante

 Staircase

Among the many treasures of the Vatican Museums, the Bramante Staircase quietly became one of my favorites. Its elegant spiral design felt both simple and timeless, drawing my attention with every step.

As sunlight filtered through the glass dome above, the staircase seemed almost alive—graceful, peaceful, and beautifully balanced. More than just a passageway, it was a reminder that beauty often lies in the details.

Long after leaving the Vatican, the image of its endless curves remained with me, a lasting memory of art, history, and quiet wonder.

Hütteldorf

Where History Meets the Rails

Some stations are merely stops along the way; others become part of the journey itself.

During my time in Vienna, I found myself fascinated by Hütteldorf Railway Station, a place where history quietly unfolds alongside the daily rhythm of commuters. Opened in 1858 and later expanded with the Stadtbahn network, it reflects Vienna's long-standing relationship with innovation, travel, and connection. Watching trains arrive and depart, I couldn't help but imagine the countless journeys that began here over the past 160 years.

MUSE.

This is my muse — and honestly, I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. It's not a gallery in any formal sense. It's more like a collection of moments I couldn't let go of. Things I saw, felt, or stumbled upon that made me stop and think — yes, that. Exactly that.

I've always found art in the ordinary. The way afternoon light hits a wall. The silence after a song ends. A stranger's expression caught for half a second. Photography became my way of holding onto those things — not to show off, but simply because they felt worth keeping.

So this space is quiet by design. There's no particular order, no grand statement. Just images and creations that meant something to me, offered to you in the hope that maybe one or two of them mean something to you too.
